Sometimes you need a perfect little place to call your own.

Garden is a home of creative solutions. Built on an alley lot and carved out of the residential grid of Austin’s East side, it turns its eye to the alley rather than the street, using yard and outdoor space as an extension of living.

The interiors follow suit. Highly textural, earthen and organic materials were used to make sure the space didn’t have that new build feel. Because the site gave the gift of trees, we gave the house the gift of light and shadow changes throughout the day. The kitchen, though compact, is integrated into the living space - the owner is a talented chef who loves to share his kitchen skills with friends.

At a compact 1100 SF, the house has *just* enough - a nice yard, an outdoor dining room, guest quarters, and a beautiful primary suite upstairs with a rooftop terrace and garden. It’s just enough, but not too much. A little urban garden in our little city.

MANY THANKS

Side Angle Side - Annie, Arthur, John, you’re the absolute best.

Basil, owner - the guy who solves all problems with calm and focus, and wasn’t afraid to take a few good risks. Hope this is your forever home.

Waller Build Co - thanks for making the hard stuff look easy. Chloe for the gorge pics and Lauren for putting everything in the right place.
